Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
Search engine marketing is simply online marketing that is used to help get your website noticed. Everyone who has been online is familiar with it but you may not be aware of it. Search engines are the tools that are used on the Internet to conduct searches. When you type in a word or phrase a search engine retrieves the possible results for you. The most famous of the search engines are Google and Yahoo! but there are a host of others as well.
Search engine marketing is often skillful by doing things to your site such as using SEO (search engine optimization) and keywords. These types of techniques are either free or very inexpensive. SEO is key to getting your site at the top of Internet searches. Keywords are words and phrases that are most often used to search for products or services such as those that you offer on your website.
The most critical place on your site that should use keywords is your landing page. Your landing page is the first page or home page of your website – the page that people come to when they click on your address. This page should contain copy that is keyword optimized. The keywords should also be used on your other pages as well. Along with keywords your website pages each have Meta tags associated with them.
