One of the biggest myths of the Internet is the good old line, “If you build it they will come …” So many people throw up a website and sit back rubbing their hands with glee convinced they are going to become supremely wealthy.

A website does not just automatically appear high in the search engine rankings and get traffic, you have to do some work in order to get this traffic and start making sales. Articles are an excellent way to gain traffic and promote your site. Submitting your article to directories will get you backlinks and if they are quality articles, will get you known across the Internet as an expert. Newsletter and website owners will pick up your articles and use them as content. This will help to promote your site to a much wider audience.
Strategy 3 – Affiliate Program
Running an affiliate program for your product is an excellent way to promote your site. Instead of you working on promoting your site, you have all these affiliates doing the work for you. And the best thing is – you don’t pay them a penny unless they make a sale. Depending on how much you offer as a commission, you could have hundreds of hungry affiliates aggressively marketing your product all over the Internet.

Tip 1: Identify your Money Type
According to Deborah Price, author of Money Magic, we all identify with certain money archetypes. For example,when money issues come up, do you bury your head in the sand, like an ostrich? Then most likely your type is called The Innocent. If you’re not The Innocent, you might be The Victim, The Tyrant, The Warrior, The Martyr, The Fool or The Magician.
Tip 2: What was your conditioning about money?
What old beliefs did you receive from your parents, teachers and the society around you about money? Many of my clients report that their old beliefs include:
–“Earning money means punching a time clock”
–“Money is scarce”
–“Money is evil”
Which of these have you struggled with?
Tip 3: What are your updated beliefs about money?
Since nature abhors a vacuum, then after you release your old Beliefs about money, put in some empowered beliefs that cause you to become a money magnet. These beliefs might sound something like this:
–“I am increasingly magnetic to money”
–“My income always exceeds my expenses”
–“I am highly worth of being prosperous”
Tip 4: Create a New Money Type for Yourself
According to “Money Magic”, the ideal type to strive for is the “magician”. Why? Because the “magician” claims his/her own power and manifests his/her own financial reality.
Tip 5: Use the Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction simply states that you get what you focus on. So if you focus on the lack of money, the difficulty of paying bills and the fears about whether you can support yourself, then You will receive more of that in return. The solution? Easy, everytime you find yourself focusing on what you don’t want, stop yourself and say, “So, what do I want?”
Tip 6: Tame your Inner Gremlin
Do you have a voice that berates you? Do you find that it’s impossible to please that voice? Then undoubtedly, you are dealing with your Inner Gremlin, also known as the Inner Critic.
It’s busy telling you that you aren’t worthy of having money.
“Who are you to be prosperous?” it will say. It will probably badger you until you turn this voice into an ally who will say, “You deserve an abundance of prosperity.”
Tip 7: Plan your work and work your plan

Does marketing your start-up company petrify your checkbook? Tri-media advertising does wonders for corporate brand building but it’s not the only way to spread the good word. With non conventional promotion, you avoid costly tri media expenses and create an almost demonic cult-following for your new product or service. All you need is a bit of unconventional thinking.
Let’s get down to brass tacks.
Since 1999, I’ve been launching successful start-ups. Most were pure online initiatives, but two are click-and-mortar hybrids. Today, each business unit makes enough to pay the utility bills, indulge in fancy dinners, and fly off on exotic vacations. Just key my name in google and you’ll have an idea of my different passions.
Skyrocketing my pursuits to niche dominance doesn’t take a Ph.D degree. Allow me to bare my secrets:
1. ESTABLISH A PRODUCT-CENTRIC ONLINE COMMUNITY. eGroups, yahoogroups and google groups allow the establishment of virtual families where people of like minds converge. WIth just a group of twenty active participants, you create a massive product buzz that eventually snowballs into unstoppable viral marketing.
My earliest endeavor revolved around business NLP, mind advancement and dating. Coaching was my passion and TV advertising would have cost a bleeding arm. I tackled the challenge by deploying an eGroup account and posting free self-help articles. At the 10th post, curious websurfers began signing up and participating. They left comments, added suggestions and invited other friends to jump in. The forum then grew exponentially and I witnessed a living, organic group of 8000+ members. People traded stories, joked, passed on tips and even flirted outrageously. For me, this meant a goldmine of targetted advertising: I would post one product announcement every quarter to a community already avid on the subject!
2. GIVE THEM FREE LUNCHES. Everybody loves a freebie; I snap up product samples at the mall or grocery store. When I get home and try that free shampoo sachet, I’d eventually come back and buy a bottle at a bloodcurdling $19.95. Mall owners were on to something!
Free eBooks, articles and mp3 recordings are hot downloads on the web. To target the army of freebie addicts, I jumpstarted Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Audition. Every month saw me marching out armadas of pdfs and mp3s. They were my eager footsoldiers, poised to strike at at freeware download sites.
So how did this benefit me? Each pdf and mp3 is armed with a resource segment containing my URLs and services. As these marketing warriors circulate the web, they stir up a storm of awareness… and direct traffic to my sites.
3. GIVE LIFETIME MONEY BACK GUARANTEES. What would do if you saw a product that trumpted “Unlimited Lifetime Satisfaction Guarantee?” Of course you wouldn’t think twice about buying it. There’s no risk on the part of the buyer… after all the product can be returned ten days– or ten months after purchase. Let your confidence in your product show by backing it up with unconditional guarantees.
4. TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE FAMILY. Avoid canned responses. Reply immediately. Offer solutions, not qualified excuses. Throw in value-adding surprises such as unannounced freebies and 24/7 tech support. Friendly gestures might cost a bit of money, but it goes a long way in building warm customer relationships. You want to create friends out of your clients.
5.PRAISE THE COMPETITION. You may be the best at what you do, but if you bad mouth the competition, you cast a pall upon your reputation. Share the glory with others by giving praise and credit where they’re due.
In my businesses, I prominently advertise the competition on my websites. I empower my clients with CHOICE. Don’t worry about lost sales; customers will naturally appreciate your impartiality and quickly realize that you’re after their welfare.
Business isn’t always about making money. It’s about nurturing relationships and building social networks. Once word of your superb business practices spread, revenue will follow.

Preparing Articles For Article Directory Distribution
Article distribution is a very effective method of promoting your business. There are a number of direct benefits from doing regular article distributions. When done properly you can recieve loads of extra traffic to your website. You can increase your search engine rankings, and of course you position yourself as a knowlegable person on your topic – an expert.
However you need to do article distribution properly in order to get the most benefit out of your time and money. What follows is a list of important things to do in order to make sure your articles perform at peak capacity.
1) Take the time to write your articles for a very specific audience. You need to understand who it is that is consuming your information and then write articles that they need and want. Find out what are important issues for people in your market and then produce articles that provide relevant and useful information and solutions for these people. The better you do this, the more likely ezine publishers and webmasters will pick up the article and use it in their publications.
2) Extending the first point a bit here, be sure that you provide useful information for readers. If you want maximum exposure for your ideas, you need to give people a reason to use your articles. The best way to do that is to write valuable content that provides real information and real solutions for the readers.
3) Have a plain text and basic HTML version of the article and resource box prepared. Many (most) article directories do not allow html in their articles, so all your articles should start their life as plain text. However you should also have a simple HTML version of each article and each resource box. In the HTML versions, simply add hyperlinks with anchor text to make any URLs in your article “live”.
4) Don’t forget search engine spiders when you write up articles. Before you start writing spend a few minutes researching relevant keywords and then be sure to work them into your articles. Not only does this help your articles rank a bit better in search engines, but more importantly it gives extra relevance to the links pointing back to your site.
5) Spend time on the by-line and/or resource box of your article. Be sure to make it a call to action. In many cases your resource box is the only place you are allowed to put links to your site. Make sure that your’s gets people’s attention and get’s them to do what you most want them to do. An effective practice is to change the resource box slightly to match each article and each audience.
6) Use very a clear reprint permission statement that is as unrestricted as possible. Putting rules on the use of your articles, results in fewer people actually using them. Since you want maximum distribution, make it very clear and very simple to use your articles. A simple statement like the following is enough: “You have permission to use this article freely in any publication as long as the resource box and byline are included as-is and any weblinks are made ‘live’ when published on websites”.
7) Don’t fill your articles with tons of links. While there is clearly no set rule about how many links are too many links, human editors will treat heavily linked articles as spam and will be much less likely to use your them. One or two links within the body of an article and one link in the resource box is reasonable, much more than that will start to have a negative impact.
Don’t be shy to target specific publications with your articles. If you know of a big player in your industry, follow them a bit (get on their ezines and watch their websites) and then write articles specifically for their needs. Often you can simply write an email and ask them if there is anything specific that you could write for them, in exchange for a link or two back to your site from within the article.
Remember that you want to get the most bang for your buck when you distribute articles. Ezine editors and website publishers are our friends, but they are also a filter between your ideas and possible readers. Anyone can just throw together an article that will sit in an article directory. What you want is an article that gets picked up and republished in ezines and on websites as well as being in the article directory. If you want to get past the human article filters, you need to give them quality content that is easy to use.
